Vehicle Registration Sticker

We redesigned the state's vehicle registration sticker in 2006. Thanks to comments and suggestions from customers, the new sticker:

• is easier to install,
• is more visually appealing,
• instructs you to throw away the "VOID" sticker, and
• provides a friendly reminder to keep your registration current.

The new sticker also displays your vehicle's license plate number, county of registration and partial vehicle identification number. This customization helps protect you against theft and fraud.

	Q:	Why did TxDOT redesign the vehicle registration sticker?
	A:  Thanks to suggestions and comments from customers, we developed a sticker that is more visually appealing and easier to install. The customized windshield sticker also helps protect you against theft and fraud.

	Q:	When does my vehicle registration expire?
	A:  Your vehicle’s registration expires on the last day of the month shown on your windshield sticker. For example, if your sticker shows a date of 05/09, your registration is valid through 05/31/09.

	Q:	How do I install the sticker on my windshield?
	A:  Follow these steps to install your sticker: Peel the sticker off from the back of the registration receipt. Place the sticker either on top or next to your inspection sticker. The two stickers cannot be farther than six inches apart. Throw away the sticker marked “VOID” on the front of the registration receipt.

	Q:	Where do I get a vehicle registration sticker?
	A:  Visit your county tax office.

	Q:	How much does the sticker cost?
	A:  View our schedule of registration fees [pdf, 1 page, 155kb] for specific costs. Your registration sticker is valid for one year, but you can pre-pay for two or three years to avoid having to register annually.
